ENLIGHT Brings Sustainability Learning Beyond University Walls through Play and Curiosity

Assoc. Prof. Peter Hanajík, PhD, member of the ENLIGHT Green Network at Comenius University Bratislava recently visited the St. Francis of Assisi School in Bratislava, where he led an engaging and interactive session for second-grade pupils.

Through playful experiments and discovery-based learning, the children explored the richness of Slovakia’s soil ecosystems, learned about the invisible organisms that sustain life beneath our feet, and reflected on how small, everyday actions can help protect nature.

Thanks to his creative approach, the classroom became a lively space for exploration, showing that even complex scientific ideas can inspire curiosity and care for the planet.

This activity is part of ENLIGHT’s ongoing effort to connect education with real-world impact within its Climate Change focus area. By nurturing awareness of environmental challenges among the youngest generation and our future university students, ENLIGHT helps build a culture of responsibility and shared commitment to a sustainable future.
