Events and Training

EventsThe ENLIGHT Teaching & Learning Hub runs regular training and events, through ENLIGHT and via partner institutions.

We welcome the participation and engagement of all of our ENLIGHT community in these events, both through attendance and via the organisation and facilitation of events.

We would also like to invite any partner institutions running internal teaching and learning events to open these up to the ENLIGHT community, so that everyone can benefit from shared perspectives and experiences.

🗺️ Teaching Mobilities with ENLIGHT: Far-Reaching Small Steps

“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step”

Guest lecturing at an ENLIGHT partner university is a low-hurdle and efficient step for academics to start or intensify study and teaching cooperative actions across the alliance. ENLIGHT holds a multilateral, crossdisciplinary mobility agreement that includes study, teaching and training activities; this simplifies the application process and supports guest lecturing.

A general rule of thumb is for candidates to still check at their home institution, in case additional requirements need to be met for academics to travel on a staff teaching mobility. ENLIGHT teams at each institution can also offer some direct support or redirect academics interested in finding peers to other supporting services at each university. ENLIGHT offers yearly funded cooperation calls for academics who have built a team and need some financial support to implement different initiatives. Staff teaching mobilities are impactful experiences benefitting not only the lecturer, but also all the student body benefitting from the international perspective the visiting academic offers to their usual home content.

If you plan to apply for some Erasmus+ staff teaching mobility funding, don´t hesitate to turn to the mobility office at your institution, or to the ENLIGHT team for further reference.

📆 Sep 29th: Digital Leadership in Higher Education - open online course

Designed for those who lead, manage, or coordinate a team of colleagues teaching in higher education (but open to anyone in the sector), this open course recognises the fast pace of change of technology and varying levels of confidence in using tools to genuinely support or enhance learning.

📆 Oct-Nov-Jan dates:Training Event: Collaborative international online learningTraining Event: Collaborative international online learning: methods and concepts for designing a virtual exchange

Video conference rooms and (a)synchronous communication platforms can do much more than simply allow us to transfer our teaching into virtual spaces – they open up new ways to enrich our courses and expand our students’ learning experiences. One example is the opportunity to connect and collaborate with colleagues and students from other universities. This can take the form of a joint classroom, virtual exchange, or Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL).

This workshop will help you discover and understand the added value that virtual exchange can bring to your own teaching. Academics from the Ghent University, the University of Göttingen und Uppsala University will gain first-hand experience of working in a joint classroom. Together, we will explore what conditions are needed to successfully integrate virtual exchange into your course, and we will discuss the challenges (your) students may face – and how to address them. By the end of the workshop, you will be familiar with practical tools and strategies for designing, planning and running your own joint classroom or virtual exchange. You will have had the chance to test some of these ideas in practice, laying the groundwork for implementing meaningful cross-institutional and international collaboration in your own courses.

Dates and times:
November 26, 2025, 9:30-12:30 and self-study time
December 10, 2025, 9:00-13:00 and self-study time
January 14, 2026, 9:00-13:00
Learning Outcomes:Participants...
- have become familiar with the different phases of a virtual exchange; they have discussed and documented ideas for designing their own joint teaching initiative.
- have experienced, based on their participation in this course together with colleagues from Ghent and Uppsala, where possible hurdles may lie for their future students and have developed strategies to prevent these in their own virtual exchange
- can name relevant aspects for the preparation and implementation of virtual exchange and evaluate their influence on their own teaching context
