Events and Training

EventsThe ENLIGHT Teaching & Learning Hub runs regular training and events, through ENLIGHT and via partner institutions.

We welcome the participation and engagement of all of our ENLIGHT community in these events, both through attendance and via the organisation and facilitation of events.

We would also like to invite any partner institutions running internal teaching and learning events to open these up to the ENLIGHT community, so that everyone can benefit from shared perspectives and experiences.

📆 Sep 29th: Digital Leadership in Higher Education - open online course

Designed for those who lead, manage, or coordinate a team of colleagues teaching in higher education (but open to anyone in the sector), this open course recognises the fast pace of change of technology and varying levels of confidence in using tools to genuinely support or enhance learning.

By using the European Digital Competence Framework for Educators (DigCompEdu) as a basic scaffold, the course will provide an overview of the technology and educational landscape in higher education in addition to empowering you to build a richer picture of your own institutional context, before focusing on different dimensions of teaching and student learning, and concluding with suggestions for how you might develop an effective strategy for your own team, department, or school. The course is open to any staff in higher education but will be of particular interest to heads of department/school, team or programme leaders, or other academic staff with responsibilities for course design and management. This course takes place over six weeks, with a digital badge available for successful completion.

📆 Oct-Nov-Jan dates:Training Event: Collaborative international online learningTraining Event: Collaborative international online learning: methods and concepts for designing a virtual exchange

Video conference rooms and (a)synchronous communication platforms can do much more than simply allow us to transfer our teaching into virtual spaces – they open up new ways to enrich our courses and expand our students’ learning experiences. One example is the opportunity to connect and collaborate with colleagues and students from other universities. This can take the form of a joint classroom, virtual exchange, or Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL).

This workshop will help you discover and understand the added value that virtual exchange can bring to your own teaching. Academics from the Ghent University, the University of Göttingen und Uppsala University will gain first-hand experience of working in a joint classroom. Together, we will explore what conditions are needed to successfully integrate virtual exchange into your course, and we will discuss the challenges (your) students may face – and how to address them. By the end of the workshop, you will be familiar with practical tools and strategies for designing, planning and running your own joint classroom or virtual exchange. You will have had the chance to test some of these ideas in practice, laying the groundwork for implementing meaningful cross-institutional and international collaboration in your own courses.
