7th ENLIGHT and Arqus Alliance Open Science Ambassador Webinar
Repositories for a sustainable, equitative and innovative Open Access publishing - presentation by Eloy Rodrigues
Date: 13 January 2025
Time: 10:00 - 11:30 AM (CET)
Since 1991, repositories have been crucial for Open Access, providing free access to research outputs. However, in recent years, the focus has shifted to Gold Open Access through Article Processing Charges (APCs), which aimed to accelerate the transition but led to rising costs and slower-than-expected progress. Recognizing the limitations of commercial models, there is growing support for not-for-profit, community-driven infrastructures. This webinar will explore strategies by COAR, OpenAIRE, LIBER, and SPARC Europe to strengthen repositories and discuss innovative models like Publish-Review-Curate and overlay journals, aligned with Diamond Open Access principles and Coalition S’s vision for responsible publishing.
