Review ENLIGHT Directors’ Meeting (Bratislava, 22-23 January 2020)

From 22 to 23 January 2020 the Comenius University of Bratislava hosted its first ENLIGHT Director’s Meeting with representatives from all nine partner institutions

At the Primate’s Palace, the representatives of the consortium met with the ambassadors of Ireland, the Netherlands, France, Belgium, Germany, Estonia and Spain on the opening evening of the conference. The ambassadors are very happy about the joined application and support the application of the ENLIGHT consortium.

If the application of the consortium proves to be successful and the project receives support, it will receive five million euros over a three-year period to develop the curricula and planned activities. The reinventing and increasing of reciprocal mobility will boost mutual internationalisation thanks to the mobility of students, teachers and administrative workers. During the conference, representatives emphasised their strong belief in the future positive effects of the project. Jozef Tancer who is Comenius University’s Vice-Rector for International Relations stated: “Thanks to the ENLIGHT alliance, Comenius University students will gain access to lots of new educational mobilities – from international online courses, summer schools, months-long study programmes to joint Master’s programmes”. Furthermore, he believes that the alliance would, “strongly support the University’s cooperation with the non-academic environment and thus react to specific societal challenges through its teaching”.

Likewise, the Rector of Comenius University, Marek Števček, pointed out: “Entering such a consortium will open up entirely new opportunities for our researchers as well as students. If, for instance, a doctoral student finds that one of our partner universities may be of greater help with his research project, he will be able to spend part of his doctoral studies there”.
