Institutions should assure themselves of the competence of their teachers. They should apply fair and transparent processes for the recruitment and development of the staff.

Docentiaz Program: This program aims to lay the foundations for an evaluation of teaching activity, aimed at the professional development of teaching staff, taking into account the needs marked by the institutional and territorial development of the UPV/EHU. This program seeks to revalue the teaching function through a comprehensive vision of the teaching provided that is built from various sources (teachers, academic managers and academic managers, students and data provided by computer systems). The Docentiaz program is the internal implementation of the guidelines in the institutional Docentia program of the external agency:

As a complement to the DOCENTIAZ program, the university is currently developing an academic teaching development framework (https://red-u.org/marco-de-desarrollo-academico-docente-mdad/) that displays a map of good university teaching based on research.
Among its general services, the University of the Basque Country offers an Educational Advice Service, whose main task is the initial and continuous training of university teachers in the teaching field, following the parameters of the IKD i3 educational model. To this end, it offers UPV/EHU teaching staff various training programs and actions.

In this same line of professional development of teachers, it makes a call for Educational Innovation Projects: IKD i3 Laborategiak.
It also maintains a line of advisory work for centers in which guidance and focused support is offered to promote coordination, the design of courses and/or training plans at the center, or the development of institutional projects for curricular change and innovation.
