Institutions should ensure that the programmes are delivered in a way that encourages students to take an active role in creating the learning process, and that the assessment of students reflects this approach.
Current Practice
Guidance and support for assessment is provided by the Centre for Excellence in Teaching and learning here.
All taught programmes (M.A., B.A., etc.) and/or Subject Areas are reviewed annually by independent External Examiners who are asked to review learning, teaching and assessment and make recommendations that are acted upon by Programme Boards and Subject Leaders. The role of External Examiners is outlined in policy QA005.
Supports are available for students through the Academic Skills Hub.
