Clio is the Study Association for Students of International Relations and International Organization at the University of Groningen. It organizes the annual Clio Conference, which will take place on March 13, 2026, and will explore the theme “Climate as Power”. This theme will focus on how climate change is reshaping global power structures and international relations. This event aims to host approximately 200 participants, with the purpose of connecting students, academics, policymakers, and professionals to examine the political, economic, and social relations emerging from the climate crisis. The day program will be divided into two sections. It will begin with a panel discussion, following a lunch break, then an interactive session of workshops, and finish off with an opportunity for students to meet and discuss one-on-one with the speakers. We will invite speakers to discuss questions around climate change as a driver of geopolitical shifts and a new form of hegemony, whilst also allowing space to investigate energy, climate diplomacy, the rise of green power, and more.
I am looking for:
1. Workshop Leaders: Academics or advanced students who can design and lead interactive workshops for the afternoon session.
2. Panel Speakers: Experts (academics, policymakers, or professionals) who can speak on climate change, sustainability, the affect of AI on the environment, how climate change is reshaping global power structures, etc.
3. Student Engagement: Students to attend and participate in workshops
