Collective Intelligence in the Age of AI: A COIL Module for Human-AI Teamwork in Education
I am looking for partners with expertise or teaching interests in one or more of: collective intelligence, human-AI collaboration, collaborative learning design, systems thinking, organisational psychology, or educational technology.

I am particularly interested in colleagues who teach at undergraduate or postgraduate level and would be open to co-designing and co-delivering a virtual exchange module with students from multiple institutions working together on shared tasks.
This project proposes a COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) module exploring how groups can think and work effectively together — and how AI tools are changing that process. Drawing on research in collective intelligence (CI) and Human-AI Teamwork (HAT), students from partner universities will collaborate in international teams to tackle real-world challenges using structured CI facilitation methods alongside AI tools.
The module will combine asynchronous learning on CI principles and AI literacy with synchronous cross-institutional workshops where students practise facilitated group decision-making, systems thinking, and critical evaluation of AI-generated contributions. Key learning outcomes include understanding group cognition, developing skills in structured deliberation, and learning to work productively with AI as a collaborator rather than a replacement for human judgement.
This initiative aligns with the Digitalization and Culture & Creativity focus areas, addressing both the technical dimensions of AI in education and the cultural challenge of fostering genuinely inclusive, cross-cultural collaborative processes.
