This year, the ENLIGHT Student Network organised an online Sustainable Week in honour of Earth Day on 22 April 2024. During the week from 22 to 26 April, the communication channels of our Student Network were full of posts showcasing sustainability practices of students and different student-led organisations at our partner universities.
We kindly invite everyone to participate in a discussion by Ghent University and the University of Tartu on the evolving role of thesis writing in the age of artificial intelligence. During the discussion, we will explore critical questions including the fundamental purpose of thesis writing, how the use of generative AI impacts equity, and the importance of transparency regarding AI utilization by students. Join us as we delve into these timely issues, seeking to understand and navigate the intersection of traditional academic practices and cutting-edge technology.
Explore the captivating realm of "Innovation in Cultural Narratives" in our upcoming lecture. In this online workshop we will hear from Juko-Mart Kõlar who will present a practical case study on navigating the complexities of building and managing a diverse team in a fiercely competitive landscape. He will outline strategies and techniques for fostering an environment where every team member comprehends their role in achieving objectives and where efficient coordination mechanisms are ingrained in the daily culture.
The webinar introduced participants to the topic of Internationalisation of the Curricula/ Internationalisation at Home and initiated match-making between programmes.
The Incubator Week is a newly developed staff training and networking event which will culminate in an on-site week at the University of Göttingen, 13-17 May 2024. On Friday, 19 April 2024, the participants have met for a preparatory webinar.
The Incubator Week aims to facilitate programme-specific networking for future cooperation, create room for learning about and discussing curriculum internationalisation in the ENLIGHT network, and offer the opportunity to work with peers. The programme is designed for academics and staff interested in internationalisation and aims to support participants in the development of a first action plan for their institution and to put them in the position to act as multipliers at their home universities.
This years’ edition is the first time a staff training is carried out in the framework of an ERASMUS+ funded Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) in the network.
The multilateral Erasmus+ agreement will enable ENLIGHT students from all disciplines to participate in student mobility as well as short-term mobility within the framework of blended intensive programmes (BIP).
So far, students participating in 30 BIPs that were jointly developed by ENLIGHT partners benefited from the agreement. 15 more blended programmes are already announced for 2024/2025, among them new courses as well as iterations of learning initiatives that already proved to be successful in the past.
The Erasmus+ agreement has been concluded for the years 2024-2027.
Inspiration, motivation, and new friendships, these are the three words that best characterise European Student Assembly 2024 or ESA 24. The assembly took place from 10 to 12 April 2024, in Strasbourg, France, at the European Parliament.
On behalf of Comenius University Regional Academy we would like to invite students, teachers and researchers to the online lecture "The ambiguities of an unqualified human good" which will be given by András Sajó.
András Sajó is Doctor of Law, University Professor at Central European University, senior research fellow at CEU Democracy Institute, former judge and Vice President at European Court of Human Rights and a member of Oversight Board in Meta.
The aim of this talk is to discuss the potential and limits of the rule of law in constitutional self-defense. As a conceptual tool, 'rule of law' is ubiquitous, wielded by many including those not committed to the capacity of constitutionalism to impose restraints on unchecked power. In a narrow reading, the rule of law not only does not halt, but may even perpetuate ruler domination. But when recognizing this inherent limitation, it may serve as a powerful tool to respond to illiberal practices of cheating.

On behalf of Comenius University Regional Academy we would like to invite students, teachers and researchers to the online lecture "The dynamics in the decision-making process in the Council of the EU: what challenges ahead?" which will be given by Tomáš Kozák.
Tomáš Kozák is a Diplomat, EU Affairs Professional and Former Director General for European Affairs, MFEA Slovakia.
The aim of the talk is to present the decision-making process in the Council of the European Union, as well as the European Council, in the context of a broader EU institutional setting. While zooming in on dynamics among the Member States in the Council, the talk will offer insider views and experience regarding day-to-day working methods in the Council, as well. The lecture will be followed by a discussion.
The question how to improve decision-making process in the Council has been continuously discussed also in the context of EU enlargement and the need to strengthen the EU’s capacity to act. Switching from unanimity to qualified majority voting (QMV) is one of the ideas that resonated politically at national levels. The talk will strive to provide answers when it comes to maintaining the principle of equality of Member States and possible challenges in reaching decisions in an enlarged Union.
