ENLIGHT Is Hosting a Virtual Exchange Forum on AI and Translation

From 15 October to 26 November 2025, ENLIGHT is hosting a virtual Exchange forum: AI and Translation: How can I use AI in my writing and translation process in a careful, aware, and reflective way?

The course aims to help students reflect critically on their own use of AI in translation and writing. Rather than viewing AI as either purely beneficial or purely harmful, the course encourages a nuanced approach: how can students use AI productively, while remaining aware of its limitations and ethical implications?

The forum consists of seven synchronous video meetings and seven self-study sessions, during which, students will learn to:

  • Understand the basic strengths and weaknesses of AI translation tools.
  • Reflect on their own experiences of using AI in writing and translation.
  • Critically evaluate the ethical, cultural, and academic challenges of relying on AI.
  • Develop strategies for integrating AI into their language learning and academic work in a careful and responsible way.
  • Collaborate with peers in discussing and comparing perspectives on AI across cultural and institutional contexts

Apply before 9 October by sending a letter of motivation with a short description of yourself and your motivation for joining this project to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

The Virtual Exchange Forum is organised by the University of Gent, the University of Göttingen and the University of Tartu.
