Co-teaching "Bioinformatics Research Seminar" – A Pilot for an ENLIGHT Double Degree in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology
I am looking for partners from ENLIGHT universities to contribute guest lectures to an online research seminar for incoming Master students in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology. The pilot is designed as a first step toward a future Double Degree collaboration and could feed into an ENLIGHT Incubator Grant or UniBE ENLIGHT Ankerprojekt application.

The "Bioinformatics Research Seminar" introduces first-semester students of the Master's programme in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology (University of Bern, jointly offered with the University of Fribourg) to current research directions and applied developments in the field. The format is a series of (online) seminars in which invited researchers present their work, methods, and ongoing projects, followed by discussion with students.
We are looking for researchers at ENLIGHT partner universities who would be willing to contribute one or more online sessions on topics such as (but not limited to) genomics, machine learning for the life sciences, structural or systems bioinformatics, biomedical data science, research data management, or AI in the life sciences.
Beyond the seminar itself, our longer-term goal is to use this pilot as a basis for exploring a Double Degree in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology between the University of Bern and one or more ENLIGHT partners. A successful pilot would help identify shared learning outcomes, complementary course portfolio, and administrative pathways for a future joint offer.
