Philosophy for Children & Arts Education

We are seeking partners for an ENLIGHT+ proposal focused on creating a network on philosophy of childhood, philosophy for children (P4C) and children's arts education.

Tags: Culture and Creativity

Description: We welcome PhDs students, early career researchers, P4C facilitators and practitioners in our Enlight partner Universities with the aim of creating a network on philosophy for children. The initiative is connected to the project AND (Art Needs Dialogue) led by Dr Michela Dianetti, in partnership with Baboró International Arts Festival for Children. The collaboration brings together the Philosophy discipline and Baboró to explore audience engagement through P4C. During the week of the Baboró Festival (scheduled to take place in Galway around the first two weeks of October 2026), we propose to organise: A dedicated workshop for P4C facilitators, art educators, and philosophers; A public lecture on Childhood and Philosophy delivered by a founding member of the IAPC (Institute for the Advancement of Philosophy for Children) and Dr Lucy Elvis (Philosophy for Children Lecturer at the University of Galway); Practice-based engagement opportunities connected to the festival programme. The workshop and public lecture would take place at the start of the festival, enabling participants to remain in Galway and attend the festival as delegates. This will allow them to integrate theory and practice by participating in and observing CPI (Community of Philosophical Inquiry) sessions organised in connection with the festival.
