Review - Successful Workshop on 'The Age of Inclusion' (15 June 2021)

On 15 June 2021, Göttingen Diversity Research Institute hosted the first virtual workshop in the ENLIGHT project „Equity under pressure“. The Göttingen team was joined by Prof. Alexis Dewaele (Ghent University), Dr. Andrej Findor (University of Bratislava), Dr. Julia Martínez-Ariño (University of Groningen) and Dr. Lorraine McIlrath (NUI Galway) in a lively discussion on “The Age of Inclusion”. The goal is to develop an international research consortium.

Against the background of ageing and diversifying European societies, the interdisciplinary consortium will examine transformations of urban belonging in different European contexts. Based on an intersectional, relational and transformative research design, the consortium not only wants to make a significant contribution to what is still a pioneering field of research, but also strives towards societal impact. By actively involving relevant stakeholders from cities and civil society and engaging students in service learning projects, local best practices as well as inter-urban cooperation towards age-friendly and inclusive European cities will be strengthened.

The project “Equity under pressure” is supported by the ENLIGHT network with funds from the DAAD and BMBF.
