Illicit Trade online Winter School (Groningen, 25-29 January 2021)
After a series of highly successful summer schools, ITG offers an online winter school from 25-29 January 2021. The winter school includes academic and practical learning about illicit finance, trafficking, and trade, and expert examination into strategies and practices about how to combat illicit trade.
This course is the first of its kind in teaching illicit trade in a holistic and practically useful way. Students will learn to set up offshore companies and back accounts, obscure the beneficial ownership of assets and identify vulnerabilities in particular institutions, countries and jurisdictions.
The Illicit Trade Group (ITG) is an interdisciplinary research network at the University of Groningen, aimed at fostering discussion on the causes, consequences and solutions to the challenges posed by illicit trade. Ultimately, we aim to contribute to government capacity building and to counter illicit trade practices.
