ENLIGHT at EAIE Glasgow 2026: Driving Innovation, Sustainability, and Student Engagement
The ENLIGHT University Alliance actively participated in the EAIE 2026 Annual Conference and Exhibition, held from 8–11 September in Glasgow, Scotland, at the Scottish Event Campus (SEC). Aligned with this year's theme, “The Rhythm of Revolution,” ENLIGHT representatives and colleagues across member universities led interactive sessions, presented poster projects, and engaged in knowledge-sharing with the global higher education community.
Showcasing Alliances in Action
Throughout the conference, ENLIGHT experts presented key initiatives across a variety of formats:
- Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs): Beatrice Immelmann (University of Göttingen), Kirstin Barnett (University of Galway), and Regine Van Groningen (University of Groningen) hosted a World Café session on making BIP offerings long-term and sustainable within local curricula.
- Spreading Alliance Results: External Advisory Board member Ragnhild Solvi Berg (Norwegian Directorate for Higher Education and Skills / Norcore) presented a poster highlighting strategies for scaling and disseminating innovative outcomes across European university alliances.
- Institutional Sustainability: Anna Savitskaya (University of Göttingen) delivered a poster presentation on how ENLIGHT drives sustainability across its 10 partner institutions through joint strategic guidelines, including the alliance’s Sustainability Declaration, Sustainable Travel Policy, and Sustainable Food Policy.
- Student-Centered Internationalisation: ENLIGHT Student Network representatives Rando Simson (University of Tartu) and Alina Prince (University of Bern), alongside Edgard Campos (University of the Basque Country), led an interactive Fishbowl session exploring how active student engagement enhances intercultural learning and belonging during physical mobility.
- Healthcare Microcredentials: Kateryna Yakovenko (Comenius University Bratislava) presented a poster on a 5-university co-designed healthcare microcredential pilot that incorporates humor to foster empathy and resilience in lifelong learners.
Building Community & Connections
In addition to academic and interactive sessions, ENLIGHT co-hosted an informal Meet & Greet at the University of Bordeaux booth on September 10th. Attendees gathered during the annual Wine & Chocolates event to network, share insights, and discuss future collaborations across the alliance's 10 member universities.
