ENLIGHT Shares Lifelong Learning Expertise through FOREU4ALL: From External Partnerships to Institutional Strategy
How can universities make lifelong learning a core part of their mission while ensuring that educational opportunities respond to the changing needs of learners and society?
In October, ENLIGHT contributed to the FOREU4ALL ALLIES community meeting with two presentations offering complementary perspectives on lifelong learning, flexible education and micro-credentials.
Matias Urenda Moris from Uppsala University shared his experience of engaging external stakeholders and community actors in lifelong learning. His contribution explored how cooperation with employers, professional organisations and other external partners can help universities identify emerging learning needs and develop educational opportunities that connect academic expertise with real-world challenges.
Ülle Kesli from the University of Tartu offered an institutional perspective, presenting Tartu's experience in making lifelong learning an integral part of the university's mission. Her contribution highlighted the importance of reaching learners beyond traditional degree programmes and developing continuing education at scale.
Together, the presentations addressed two essential dimensions of sustainable lifelong learning: meaningful engagement with external partners and strong institutional commitment.
Through its continued involvement in FOREU4ALL, ENLIGHT brings institutional expertise into wider European discussions, fostering the exchange of practical experience and strengthening cooperation among European University Alliances working towards more accessible, flexible and responsive higher education.
