ENLIGHT Shares Expertise on Lifelong Learning and Micro-Credentials through FOREU4ALL
Through its active participation in the FOREU4ALL Community of Practice and the Lifelong Learning Topical Group, ENLIGHT continues to contribute to the European lifelong learning agenda by sharing expertise, promoting mutual learning, and strengthening collaboration across the European Universities Initiative.
On 29 May 2025, Professor Robert Wagenaar, ENLIGHT Director and Senior Advisor at the University of Groningen, delivered a presentation on the future of lifelong learning, micro-credentials, and emerging models of adult education. Drawing on his extensive experience in European higher education policy and credential innovation, he explored current developments in flexible learning pathways and their growing role in supporting lifelong learners across Europe.

This exchange of expertise continued on 26 June 2025 with a presentation by Suzanne Gold of the University of Galway, a leading expert in Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and adult learning. She shared the University of Galway's extensive experience in developing recognition pathways that enable learners to gain formal recognition of knowledge and skills acquired through professional experience, volunteering, and previous education. Her presentation demonstrated how RPL can widen participation, promote inclusion, and support more flexible learning journeys throughout life.
These contributions reflect ENLIGHT's commitment to advancing innovative approaches to lifelong learning, micro-credentials, recognition, and flexible educational pathways. By facilitating the exchange of good practices and fostering institutional learning across European university alliances, ENLIGHT strengthens its capacity to respond to the evolving needs of learners, employers, and society, while supporting the development of more accessible and inclusive learning opportunities throughout life.
