Are you passionate about human rights and curious about how authoritarianism is reshaping Europe? Don’t miss the second edition of the Online School on Human Rights, running from 26 August to 2 October 2025.

Organised by Ghent University, University of Galway, University of Groningen, and Uppsala University, this six-week programme brings together young scholars from across Europe, Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, and Central Asia to critically examine the risks and impact of authoritarianism on human rights in Europe today.

A critical deep-dive into contemporary challenges
The School offers a unique platform to explore:

• The relationship between human rights and political systems
• Emerging areas such as digital freedoms, climate justice, and gender politics
• The use—and misuse—of human rights rhetoric in times of conflict and crisis
• How citizens can advocate for rights in increasingly constrained civic spaces

• 30 academic hours = 3 ECTS (subject to recognition by home universities)
• 11 interactive online sessions led by experts from top European universities
• Group projects with mentoring and peer-reviewed presentations
• A methodological workshop on interdisciplinary human rights research

Who can apply?
Final-year bachelor’s and master’s students in law, political science, international relations, or related fields from Europe, as well as students from Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Russia, the Caucasus and Central Asia.
