ENLIGHT brings together academics, researchers and prominent cultural agents to discuss and find new cooperation paths across the alliance. The third edition of the ENLIGHT European Dialogue focused on Co-creation of knowledge together with the Cultural & Creative sectors and was hosted by the University of the Basque Country on May 21-22.
The academic event, with around 100 participants, aims at providing a platform for inspiration and development of bottom-up collaborations between our academics and our regional external partners and to further develop cooperation opportunities in the ENLIGHT thematic area of Culture & Creativity.
Relevant initiatives like the UNESCO Chair of Cultural Landscapes and Heritage, Gustavianum museums of Uppsala University, the cooperation programme between UPV/EHU and the Guggenheim museum Bilbao or the HiTZ (Basque Center for Language Technology) were presented, alongside several ENLIGHT Thematic Networks and other cooperative networks already established across the Alliance, seeking to enlarge their teams.
Special attention was paid to academic cooperations exploration and networking in the thematic parallel sessions around areas like Language, Creativity, Heritage preservation or Religion and Spirituality, as well as panel sessions discussing ways in which Culture and Creativity can address societal challenges.
Prominent cultural agents took part in this event: from Tartu 2024 and Ghent 2030 European Capitals of Culture organizing and campaign committee members to Office of the Public Defender of Rights/Ombudsperson of the Slovak Republic members; non-governmental organisation Clowndoctors, social Enterprises like LoveforLivres promoting health and wellbeing and social cohesion through culture and reading; or renowned musicologists like Chris Tonelli from the University of Groningen.
The local cultural sector were also present at the event, hosting Management members of Donostia-Kultura (City Council Culture department), Gordailu (Artistic Heritage of the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa), Tabakalera (International Centre for Contemporary Culture) or the head of the Conservation and Preservation Department of the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao.
The goal for this community is the gathering in Donostia-San Sebastián to follow-up and keep connected with their fellow participants for further collaborations that might arise in the near future, as an immediate or longer run result of their taking part in this event.
