The project consists of a series of interdisciplinary summer schools focussing on one of the key contemporary challenges in Europe – the new insecurities triggered by Russia's war against Ukraine. This topic will be analysed through innovative approaches to teaching and learning, building around several questions: How has Russia’s invasion of Ukraine triggered a host of insecurities on the ground and how have they affected various geopolitical frames, mental maps, and national identities? What perspectives from Eastern Europe/post-Soviet spaces are the most relevant under the new circumstances and why they have been relatively overlooked in previous scholarship? What policies could be adopted at various levels (public, private//European, national, regional/ civil society, institutional) to address the new forms of insecurity? The school combines theoretical lectures with site visits, interactive exercises, and cultural experiences.
This project is committed to research-based teaching in such disciplines as international relations, security studies, and foreign policy analysis. Bringing together students and academic staff from various corners of EU enables them to talk to their peers and colleagues and explore different perspectives of security in the 21stcentury Europe.
