COURSES

Wellbeing @ Work

Students participate in a Blended Intensive Programme (BIP), jointly organized by Ghent University, Uppsala University and Comenius University. This programme is designed to offer added value in comparison to the existing offer: (i) rich and multidisciplinary programme on research on wellbeing at work, (ii) intercultural collaboration on top of multi- and interdisciplinary collaboration, (iii) top level lecturers, and (iv) close connection to the HR professionals.

About the course

Content

In the BIP we immerse students in the multi- and interdisciplinary literature on wellbeing at work through both online and offline seminars. For that purpose, wellbeing at work is approached from various disciplines, including health promotion and prevention, psychology, HR management, labour and welfare economics. We will rely on lecturers from the three organising universities but also invite top speakers on the topic of wellbeing at work. This hybrid learning environment fosters multidisciplinary, critical thinking and cross-border collaboration. To highlight the need for interdisciplinary research on wellbeing at work from a societal point of view, given HR professionals’ growing demand for evidence-based practices, we will invite HR professionals, managers, and organisational leaders to present concrete challenges in workplace well-being. We will ensure that students not only learn about wellbeing at work but also actively engage with evidence-based information and apply it to real-world contexts in the group assignment.

Learning outcomes

  • Explain and critically evaluate innovative, multidisciplinary theories and research methods related to wellbeing at work.
  • Demonstrate the ability to engage in collaborative problem-solving in interdisciplinary and international teams.
  • Develop and apply critical thinking and effective communication skills in dealing with workplace wellbeing challenges.
