The government of Slovakia has granted Comenius University in Bratislava an additional funding of 143 000 euro for ENLIGHT. The Slovak Ministry of Education published a special call for proposals for universities participating in the European Universities Initative in October 2020, after the success of projects with Slovak participation in the European Universities call of 2020. Three institutions worked together to submit a joint proposal.
„We agreed with the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra (European University INVEST, leader of the project) and the Technical University of Košice (European University ULYSSEUS, member) to cooperate on topics related to our European Universities projects. As the current crisis has a very negative impact on budgets of all three institutions, co-financing of our projects was among the first issues we identified as necessary, “said Jozef Tancer, ENLIGHT Board of Directors member for Comenius University.
All three partners also proposed changes to the national legislation to ensure improved conditions for accreditation of joint study programmes to support activities of European Universities. These changes came into effect at the beginning of 2021.
