In the first days of March this year, the ENLIGHT Student Network's Making Connections: Strengthening Student Life conference took place, sparking insightful discussions and fostering new connections!
Hosted at Ghent University, the event unfolded on Friday, 1 March and Saturday, 2 March, bringing together students from universities across Europe, including Bern, Bordeaux, Ghent, Galway, Göttingen, Groningen, the Basque Country, Tartu, Bratislava, and Uppsala.
The conference commenced with an inspiring address from the Rector of Ghent University, Rik van de Walle, followed by a motivating talk from the Executive Secretary of ENLIGHT, Gijs Coucke.
Each university showcased their student bodies and senates, gaining valuable insights into university governance structures and identifying avenues for future improvements.
Students were treated to a presentation on Challenge-Based Learning by Mansi Sharma from Ghent University, offering valuable insights into innovative educational approaches.
Subsequently, students had the opportunity to participate in workshops focusing on educational enhancement and mental well-being in small groups. And let's not forget the delicious Belgian specialties served from the food truck, a delightful treat for all attendees!

Many students found immense value in this conference, not only in terms of information exchange but also in forging new friendships and relationships across partner universities. This paves the way for stronger networks, epitomized by the presence of the letter "N" in ENLIGHT's name, symbolizing network.
On Sunday, representatives from the ENLIGHT Student Network convened a special session to discuss the network's future direction, ensuring continued growth and collaboration. A huge thank you to the organisers for creating such an exceptional conference and also big thanks to all the participants! We believe this is just the beginning of our journey together and look forward to reconnecting at the next Student Network conference!
