ENLIGHT Seed-funding by University of the Basque Country

In order to support joint activities in the area of research, innovation and education within the alliance, the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) launches a second call aiming at funding collaborative projects to encourage the emergence or consolidation of cooperation between partners. Applications can be submitted until February, 7th for expenses to be made until October, 31st 2024.

{slider Award Criteria}

- Projects must include at least two other partners from the alliance.

- Applications must contain at least one of the following dimensions:

  1. Development of mobility schemes (such as staff exchange schemes, short-term mobility, summer/winter schools, etc.).
  2. Development of innovative learning formats (such as: course design, blended teaching and learning activities, joint programmes, etc.) and/or teaching and learning practices.
  3. Development of a future collaboration in research and innovation (preparation of a Joint submission of an R&I proposal).

- Applicants must communicate about the funding on all appropriate media.

- One month after funding eligibility, applicants must:

  • Provide a final report describing the results of the action and future projects related thereto.
  • Provide a cost statement covering the entirety of their project-related expenses.

NB: projects dealing with at least one of the 5 ENLIGHT flagship challenges and/or promoting green and/or inclusive mobility will be given priority.

1. Networking activities (research and/or education).

2. Implementation or consolidation of projects:

  • Support for setting up shared research projects, developing co-supervision of theses, preparation of joint applications to international calls for proposals, workshop organization, summer school organization, etc.)
  • Support for shared educational initiatives such as development of a joint educational offer on a specific topic, institutional partnership for long-term student mobility, design of virtual exchange, online collaborative learning, preparation of joint applications to international calls for proposals, organization of joint seminars, etc.

{slider Type of support and budget available}

Based on the nature and the needs of the submitted project, the support proposed within the frame of this programme may take the following forms:

Mobility up to:

  • Flights: 500 € / person (roundtrip).
  • Accommodation and catering: depending on UPV/EHU perdiem rates.
  • Travel and accommodation for staff and students (M and PhD level) participating in strategic/work.
  • Meetings, conferences, workshops, seminars and internships linked to the programme development.

NB: mobility grants qualify for funding provided that they are not already eligible within the framework of another programme (e.g. ERASMUS programme).

Operating budget for:

  • Organising work meetings, conferences, workshops and seminars in the UPV/EHU (catering,translation, etc.).
  • Communication (leaflets, website, etc.).

NB: The overall requested budget cannot exceed 6000 € per proposal and must be spent before October 31st, 2024.

{slider Evaluation Committee}

The committee will be made up of one person from the Vice-Rectorate for Research, one person from the Vice-Rectorate for Undergraduate Studies and Educational Innovation and one person from Euskampus Fundazioa.

Projects will be selected on the basis of the following criteria:

  • Relevance of the proposal. (50 points)
  • Soundness of the proposal. (25 points)
  • Interdisciplinary nature of the working group and number of partners. (25 points)

The Evaluation Committee is sovereign to decide the acceptance of a project under this programme and freely allocates resources to selected projects.
