Quantum Insights for Enhanced Healthcare and Well-Being

I am looking for partners interested in the development of interdisciplinary research and courses for university students aimed at integrating teaching and scientific activities in the two fields of knowledge – physics and biomedicine. There is a preliminary agreement with colleagues from the University of the Basque Country to participate in the proposed project.

Combining quantum physics with medicine opens up fascinating possibilities for both research and education. By integrating the expertise in quantum issues with medical and biological applications, we expect to contribute to interdisciplinary research aimed at addressing pressing healthcare challenges and advancing our understanding of complex biological phenomena. As believed, fostering collaboration between physicists and biomedical researchers will unlock new avenues for innovation and discovery, which are out of already existing in Europe initiatives.

The Centre for Nanotechnology and Advanced Materials at Comenius University Bratislava carries out scientific activities in three areas belonging to the proposed project: (i) development of nanoscale magnetic-field sensors based on Josephson junctions expected to be used in medical therapy; (ii) development of thin-film memristors as basic elements of neuromorphic computation and smart devices; (iii) electric charge modification of artificial bones for healthcare.

We have a structured plan for short- (project duration) and long-range tasks focusing on three main directions - workshops, joint research and educational activities.
