Creating Virtual 3D Models for Adult Surgery

Our proposal outlines a collaborative effort to harness the power of virtual 3D models in advancing adult surgery education and practice. Through partnerships within the ENLIGHT project, we aim to create a transformative educational experience that empowers surgeons with the knowledge, skills, and tools needed to deliver exceptional care to patients. We invite like-minded institutions to join us in this endeavor and contribute to the collective pursuit of excellence in surgical care.

Our initiative utilises virtual 3D models to enhance adult surgery education and practice. These models aid in undergraduate and postgraduate education, pre-surgery planning, and improve minimally invasive skill training through 3D printing. Having already developed a synthetic model for esophageal atresia, we're now working on one for duodenal atresia.

We're seeking ENLIGHT partners for joint model creation, educational integration, clinical implementation, and technology transfer.

Collaboration activities:

  • Model Development: Partner institutions will develop virtual 3D models of pediatric pathologies and anatomical structures using medical imaging and CAD modeling, ensuring accuracy through validation studies.
  • Educational Integration: Institutions will integrate 3D models into surgical education programs, enhancing learning through curriculum development, faculty training, and interactive modules.
  • Clinical Implementation: Virtual models will assist in pre-surgery planning, patient communication, and surgical decision-making. Collaborative evaluation will gauge their impact on outcomes, satisfaction, and efficiency.
  • Technology Transfer: Institutions will exchange knowledge
